Seating Auditions

Seating auditions will be held on September 19. You will be performing in front of your peers in small groups of mixed instrumentation (similar to the end-of-year performances). Groups will be assigned and posted in the next few days.

There is only one audition piece. It is the 4th Movement of the Verdi String Symphony. The excerpt is from measure 162 until the end of the piece.

The performance tempo of the piece is 1/2 note=100 beats per minute. The minimum acceptable audition tempo is 1/2note=84bpm. Groups performing below this tempo will have their final score lowered by one letter grade (10%).

Your group will be asked to perform the excerpt twice. This will give the violinists a chance to perform both violin parts (yes, this means you need to learn both the first and second violin).

Both the individual excerpt parts and the score for the entire 4th movement are attached to this post.

Rock and roll!
